Tips on how to enjoy the convention!

1. Pick up your tickets early.
The convention does not open until 10am on Saturday, but registration is available starting at 8am! Make sure to bring your PayPal receipt and photo ID if you pre-ordered your tickets. Otherwise, you can purchase entry to the convention at the registration table as well as purchase a ticket to the Melendy Britt / Alan Oppenheimer autograph session.

2. Have items ready to be signed.
Check out our suggested signing items for the guests that will be in attendance.

3. Know the area.
The Power-Con website lists information about the hotel, travel, local attractions, and area restaurants in the Hotel & Travel section.

4. Participate in the convention’s fan contests.
The convention is hosting fan art / custom creations, cosplay, and trivia contests. More details here. Prizes will be awarded to the winners!

5. Check out the programming schedule.
Highlight the panels you want to attend so you know where to be and when well in advance. Our schedule is jam-packed with unique panels and signing sessions for the attendees.

6. Mingle with your fellow fans.
During the entire convention, you will be surrounded by fellow fans of He-Man, She-Ra, and ThunderCats. We will also be hosting an after-hours mixer and other late night events beginning at 7:00pm on Saturday.

7. Explore each table and booth on the convention floor.
We have a large guest list of artists, vendors, and exhibitors who all love He-Man, She-Ra, and ThunderCats. Many tables will have items for sale, but keep in mind that not everyone will be accepting credit cards. Don’t forget to save some of your convention fun money to participate in our Power & Thunder Auction that benefits the CAAF!

By the power… for the honor… ThunderCats, ho! We can’t wait to see you in Los Angeles this weekend!

Online sales have ended. Remaining items available at the door while they last!

Congratulations and a hearty thank you from all of us at Power-Con/ThunderCon to everyone who preordered their passes, tickets and/or packages.

The Registration table will be open to the public at 8am on Saturday, September 24th and at 9am on Sunday, September 25th. We can’t wait to see you all at the show!

Reminder about what you need to pick up your passes and packages!

Power-Con/ThunderCon is this weekend! Are you excited? We definitely are!

If you pre-ordered tickets, you will need to pick them up at the Registration table. In order to do this, you must have your photo ID and a print-out of your PayPal transaction receipt! If you don’t have the PayPal receipt, please log into your PayPal account and print that out asap. The folks at the Registration table will keep the receipt and verify the info against your photo ID in exchange for your passes, Power-Packages and/or Roast Gooble Dinner Dinner Packages.

MastersCast Mixer & Late Night Events

On Saturday, the convention floor is closing at 6:00pm, but the fun is going to continue with our after-hours events! Make sure to head back to the Woods Rooms at 7:00pm for the MastersCast Mixer & Late Night Events!

Join your fellow fans in drink, merriment, and help a wonderful cause by participating in the Power & Thunder Auction!  Many creators and talent that worked on He-Man, She-Ra, and ThunderCats may be stopping by after they are finished at the Roast Gooble Dinner. Jon “TheShadow” Kallis will also be interviewing fans throughout the night for an upcoming podcast so make sure to flag him down!

A cash bar will be set up in the rear of the room so that you can easily mingle with your fellow fans. You will also be able to go out in to the hallway and lobby to relax and chat. Make sure that you are at least back down to the party by 10:00pm so you can watch and/or participate in our benefit auction. It includes one-of-a-kind pieces where portions of the proceeds will be donated to the Children Affected by AIDS Foundation. Items are expected to go fast!

The After Hours itinerary is as follows:

Wizard of Stone Mountain Screening (7:30pm – 9:00pm): Check out the fan-made film from John F. Carroll and Russell Minton.

Cosplay Contest Judging (9:15pm – 9:30pm): Come see all the cool costumes attendees wore as we crown a winner!

Power & Honor: The World of MOTU Toys Premiere (9:30pm – 9:45pm): Join “Pixel Dan” Eardley as he hosts the premiere of the newest Power & Honor installment.

Power& Thunder Auction (10:00pm – 12:00am): Bid on one-of-a-kind art pieces. Proceeds from sales will benefit the Children Affected by AIDS Foundation.

Tips for and a preview of how the benefit auction works!

With Power-Con/Thundercon this coming weekend, lots of people are excited about the charity auction on Saturday night, September 24th at 10pm PST!

The auction site is being continually updated with awesome items that will be up for auction. Be sure to check it out regularly.

Register today to help save time when the bidding begins Saturday night at 10pm PST.

Our advice for those new to Proxibid online bidding:

  • We recommend you create an account ahead of time!
  • We recommend using Firefox or Internet Explorer. These are the most stable browsers to use with Proxibid.
  • When you visit the auction link, the “Watch this lot” link will change to an orange “Place Bid” button when the auction has begun on Saturday night.
  • During the auction, when you click the orange “Place Bid” button, you will be prompted to run or download a Java app. Be sure to Run it instead of downloading it! After you run it, it will bring up the live auction in a new Java app window.
  • After the Java app window has launched, be sure to immediately “Sign In” via the upper right! Otherwise, you are in Watch mode.
  • The Ring: this is the area to the left where items are displayed as they are up for auction. The chime notifies you that an item has entered the ring for bidding. You can disable this sound in the Preferences tab to the right.
  • At the bottom of the Ring is the Bid button. This shows the next bid increment. Click on that button to bid. If you bid the same amount as someone at the convention, the convention bid takes priority.
  • Above the Bid bar is the current High Bid and the status of a bid: Once, Twice, Sold. Because auctions move fast, we recommend not relying on these status icons and instead Bid as soon as you see the High Bid value change!
  • The Catalog tab: this shows all of the items that are up for sale in order of how they will be auctioned off. You can browse this to see everything up for auction. (The current order is temporary and will change the night of the auction)
  • The My Lots tab: this shows all the items you have won and/or are currently bidding on. It gives you a total of how much you have bid thus far.
  • The Audio/Video tab: You need to click on this tab and then click on the “Launch the A/V” icon in order to hear the live auctioneer. The audio will open in a separate window where you can adjust the volume. You will then need to return back to the Java app window for the auction. There may be a delay in the audio so we recommend bidding as soon as you see the High Bid change so you don’t miss out!
  • At the end of a sale you will receive an invoice to pay. Proxibid can use your credit card on file if you wish.
  • If you want to get familiar with how the auction works ahead of time, click here to check out any other live auction between now and Saturday. You can observe in Watch mode.

Once you’ve found your way through the setup, we think you’ll find it to be easy. Thank you in advance to everyone who participates and helps to raise money for Power-Con/ThunderCon and the Children Affected by AIDS Foundation!
